

Robert Donald Callahan, 80, of Overland Park, KS, passed away at the home on May 11, 2011. Robert was born May 26, 1930, in Galena, Illinois, to John and Agnes Callahan. He grew up in Dubuque, Iowa and later moved to Kansas City.
He joined the Army in 1948 and served two years. He was hired by Western Auto Supply Company and retired after 43 years. On November 13, 1954, he married Marilyn Christ. They were married 56 wonderful years and were blessed with nine children.
He was a member of Cure of Ars Church for 35 years. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and the Royals.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; stepfather: John Donovan; sister: Florence Martin; brothers: Jack, Ray, and Charles Callahan. Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; sons: Mark (Mary), Kevin (Eileen), John (Lori), Paul, Tom (Denise), David, and Tim (Kelly); and daughters: Lisa Bielak and Chris Callahan. He is also survived by a sister: Mary (Nilus) Dalsing, and brothers: Tony (Betty) Callahan, and Dennis (Shirley) Donovan. He was also a beloved grandfather to 24 grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, May 14 at 9:00 A.M. at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
