Mrs. Wells was born February 22, 1931, in Cherryvale, KS. She was the daughter of Elmer R. & Ruth A. (Wilson) Sutterfield. She married Orville J. Wells on November 26, 1953, in Pittsburg, KS. She prided herself on her professional accomplishments, advocacy for equal opportunities for girls and women, and was dedicated to the active and loving life she fostered in her family. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include one son, John Wells, Seattle, WA; three daughters, Judith Samborski, Lawson, MO, Janice Carnahan, Shawnee, KS, and Jean Wells, Lawrence, KS; five grandchildren, Kevin Carnahan, Nicole Morgan, Sean Morgan, Adelaine Horan, and Henry Horan; and one great-granddaughter, Caydence Ho.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 1900 W 75th St #200, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
