

Terry Lee Harvey, 75, of Shawnee, KS, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2023, surrounded by his family. Terry was born on April 13, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lorraine and Thelman “Sonnie” Harvey. He was a big brother to 5 siblings, a loving husband, Father, and Papa.
Terry met the love of his life, Janie Ferson, in 1966 and they married on September 6, 1968. They had their first son, Christopher Michael, in 1974 and little sister, Arin Michelle, followed in 1975.
Terry graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1966. He went on to earn a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Kansas in 1972 and later pursued a Master’s Program in Criminal Justice at Wichita State University. Terry proudly served in the Kansas Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel for 27 years.
In college, Terry was a published artist and continued to freelance artwork throughout his career. Terry worked as a Graphic Design Artist at Western Auto, served as the Chief of Police at the Roeland Park Police Department, and worked as a District Sales Manager at Motorola. He worked as a Security Professional for Harrah’s and later at First Response.
Terry worshiped at Countryside Christian Church and Kaw Prairie Community Church. He enjoyed watching the Kansas Jayhawks basketball and the KC Royals. Terry was passionate about supporting his grandchildren in their sporting events and theatrical endeavors. He also attended a men's Bible study and loved boating at Lake of the Ozarks.
Terry is survived by his wife, Janie; his children, Chris (Jennifer) Harvey and Arin (Mike) LeCluyse; and his grandchildren, McKenna, Dalton, and Carter Harvey, and Delaney, Kyle, and Anna LeCluyse. He is also survived by his siblings, Sherry (Tom) Hilleary, Sue (Terry) McGeeney, Debbie (Kevin) Sambol, and Gary (Lisa) Harvey. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Thelman and Lorraine Harvey; as well as his brother, Rod Harvey.
A visitation for Terry will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Kaw Prairie Community Church, 9421 Meadow View Drive, Lenexa, KS 66227, followed by his memorial service at 11:30 AM.
