Tom was born on July 18, 1933, in Overland Park, KS. He was the middle child of Thomas R. Sr. and Margarette L. Hoge; brother to Ronald “Joe” Hoge and Marion Sue Armstrong. He served in the Army at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, NM. After he left the service, he worked in police and investigative work his entire career. He worked for Prairie Village Police Department as a patrolman. When he left the department, he started with Sears and Roebuck on the plaza as head of store security. He then moved to Gulf Oil as an Internal Special Investigator. Chevron eventually bought out Gulf and he stayed with Chevron until his retirement. His job at Gulf/Chevron took him to Texas, Colorado and back to Kansas. Once retired, he and Sue traveled, took cruises and trips in their motorhome. They moved to Lake Havasu, AZ, for a few a years, then moved back to Overland Park to be close to family. Tom was an avid golfer and loved to play with friends. He loved all sports, but his true love was for baseball. He played through his youth at left field and catcher and continued into adulthood. Tom loved to spend time with friends and especially family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tom was always ready with a corny grandpa joke, story and nickname. Every child and grandchild was given their own special nickname.
He was proceeded in death by his beautiful bride, Mary Sue; his parents, Tom and Margarette; his brother, Ronald “Joe” Hoge; his sister, Marion Sue Armstrong; his grandson, Darren Allen Hoge; and his granddaughter, Heather Lee.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Abrahamson (Dennis); sons, Mark Hoge (Kathy) and Scott Hoge (Beth); grandchildren, Patrick (Tina), Sarah (Luke), Chris (Sarah), Alaina (Scott), Evan and Samantha (Alan); and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
