

Vera Louise (Myers) Parker, 100, Lenexa, KS, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012 at Lakeview Village. She was born April 16, 1912, to J. Floyd and Pleda (Clark) Myers at Freeman, MO, where she grew up. After graduating from Freeman High School, where she took part in all school activities, she attended Central Missouri State University and received her teaching degree. Vera taught school in the Belton area for 2 years. She married John E. Parker, Sr. on December 23, 1932. They enjoyed 76 years of married life. They raised two sons, and she enjoyed all their sports. After the sons were grown, Vera worked for the Treasurer of Johnson County for 17 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Past Worthy Matron. She grew up in the Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon. She was a member of the Stanley Presbyterian Church. The love of her life was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a son, John Earl; and a grandson, Phil Parker. Vera is survived by a son, Howard Parker and wife, Christel; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jay Parker and his wife, Connie.
Cremation. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, November 28, from 5-6:30 PM at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. A Memorial service will follow at 6:30 PM. Inurnment will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
