William E. Franklin, Denver, CO passed away May 15, 2016. Memorial service will be at the Prairie Village Community Center, 7720 Mission Road, PV, KS on Saturday, August 6th at 3pm. Memorial contributions may be made to KU Endowment, PO Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044 in honor of William E. Franklin - Marjorie A. and William E. Franklin Women in Engineering Scholarship.
Bill was born on April 1, 1934 in Topeka, KS. He was a graduate of KU and Purdue University. He started Franklin Associates, an environment consulting firm, and was nationally recognized as an expert in solid waste management and Life Cycle Assessment. Bill served as Mayor of Prairie Village, KS and as a Johnson County Commissioner. He gave freely of his time to many other organizations including Asbury UMC, Kingswood Retirement Community, Theta Tau professional engineering fraternity, the Johnson County Library Foundation and many others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie A. Franklin. Bill was devoted to his family and is survived by his son, Mark; Mark’s wife, Elizabeth; his daughter, Janice; his brother, Bob; 4 grandchildren, Barbara, Charles, James and Doug; and 5 great-grandchildren.
