With profound sadness, the family of Benjamin Caro Gomez announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020, at the age of 89 years. His wife, Ada, will lovingly remember him; children, Narda Iris Caro (New York, NY), Wanda Ester Caro (New York, NY), Mayra Caro (Davenport, FL), and Mirella Caro-Cortes and son in law, Luis R. Cortes, Jr. (Oviedo, FL). He will also be dearly missed by his grandkids Alyah & Bobby Cortes, Mark A. Rivera, Fred & Jay Huertas and five Great Grandkids. Benjamin was predeceased by his parents, Gregorio & Catalina; siblings Reparado, Ramon, Rosaura, Israel; and son Benjamin Jr.
Ben was born December 14, 1930, in Rincon P.R. At a young age, he moved to New York City looking for opportunities. There he worked at the Rockefeller Center until he returned to Puerto Rico at 40 years old. Throughout his life, he focused on providing for his family by performing several different jobs. Ben had a green thumb and loved gardening and harvesting crops. Every year Ben diligently planted his Gandules (green pigeon peas) so they would be ready for Thanksgiving dinner. He was also an avid reader and loved Christ. As a fervent Catholic, Ben always prayed to Mother Mary and blessed his family every time they greeted him. Most importantly, Ben loved his family and always encouraged them to have strong morals and be honest. Ben loved his grandkids and lived to see them smile.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Advent Health Winter Park and Advent Health Hospice of Altamonte for their care and compassion. Also, to all our family and friends for all their prayers.
