Colonel Bob White, U.S. Army, Retired

Emett Robert White, IV, (fondly know as Bob) was born in Pittsford, VT, the first of four children to Emett Robert White III Army Colonel (Retired) and Ruth Perkins White,. Wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps, and having a deep passion to serve his country, Bob made the decision to go to West Point and pursue a career in the military.

After graduation from West Point in 1967, Bob served as a Platoon Leader and Troop Commander in the 6th Squadron 1st Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, and then as Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in the 1st Squadron 10th Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam. Other assignments included as Troop Commander and Operations Officer in the 1st Squadron 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment on the Czechoslovakian Border and as Commander then 1st Squadron 1st Cavalry Regiment in Germany. Bob received numerous awards including the Bronze Star Medal in Vietnam, the prestigious Defense Superior Service Medal, and Legion of Merit.

He earned a Master’s Degree in Operational Research and Systems Analysis (ORSA) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His ORSA skills benefited the Army in many subsequent assignments making contributions in the areas of combat systems and training simulators development, war planning, and military compensation policies.

He met his wife, Ann, in Louisville, KY and married in September 1971 at Ft Knox. During their 53 years of marriage they raised four children while living in many interesting places in the U.S. and abroad. A loving and devoted couple who enjoyed cruising and traveling together, as well as a passion for golf, cards and many other things. As a father, Bob passed along to his children his desire to serve others, as well as his strong work ethic. Austin followed in his father’s footsteps, graduating from West Point (1996) and served 6 additional years in the Army. He now works for Otis Elevator and lives in Austin, TX with his wife, Jen and son Emett, a student at University of San Francisco. Brad served in the Army and was deployed to Bosnia. Presently he serves as a police officer for the city of Apopka, FL. Brad lives close by in Mount Dora with his wife Sheri and has 2 daughters, Anabelle (14) and Julia (11). Emilie previously served as a police officer in Winter Park, FL and now continues to serve the community as a Registered Nurse at Orlando Health, Lake Mary. She and her husband, Dan, live in Casselberry, FL and have fur babies who are loved by all. Brian is a successful businessman and real estate agent who is always the first to help family and friends. He lives in Leesburg, FL with his wife Crystal and son, Peyton (14).

After serving 27 successful years in the Army, Bob retired (1994) as a Colonel. He and his family settled in Central Florida where he continued his service as a military contractor, and to his community as president of his local HOA. Bob never failed to elicit a smile when he entered the room, and he always held everyone’s needs before his own. His love for life, wicked sense of humor and his curiosity to always learn something new will live on thru his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
