John died peacefully at his home on January 1, 2020 in Oviedo, Florida at the age of 53. John is survived by his wife, Maria; son, Alec; mother, Judy; brother, Robert, along with aunts, uncles, and a ridiculous number of cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, John J Sanzone Jr; grandfather, John Sanzone Sr; and grandmother, Josephine Sanzone.
John was born on August 11, 1966 in Plainview Oyster Bay, New York to John & Judy. He graduated from High School in 1986. He then graduated from Grumman with a certificate in electronics. John would eventually become a Purchasing Agent for electronics - working with various companies in Florida.
He married Maria Huertas, his “little Latina, love at first sight” in 1989. In 1993, John & Maria welcomed their new baby boy Alec into their home and John would sing a [custom] lullaby to him at bedtime, and also set about teaching him how to play guitar - which would come to fruition years later when they had the opportunity to play together. Alec remembers him as a kind, funny guy whose demeanor would encourage him to always remember to have fun in whatever he went after. John's hobbies included: watching Star Trek (with Robbie), Star Wars (with Danny), and recording songs as a recording engineer. John learned the fundamentals of guitar playing at the age of 5 [taught by his father] which he carried with him to develop an outstanding talent over the following 45+ years. He began to play in a band with his father during his teen years and would eventually start his own band with his lifelong friend, Danny. John & Maria moved to Florida in 1996, and John started a band here in central Florida, where he continued to entertain the masses.
John was a fantastic guitar player, a great singer, and an accomplished song writer. He was a witty guy who loved to use sarcasm in his dialogue when he wanted to make a point about something…and everyone tried to give it right back to him.
