Mark Pope, 54 of Orlando, after surviving a bout of cancer 6 years ago, passed away unexpectedly on December 22 in Breckenridge, CO while on a ski vacation with his family. Mark was born on January 24 to Melvin and Margaret Pope in Kingsport, Tennessee. He grew up in Greenville, SC and attended Eastside High School. He went on to graduate from Clemson University with a degree in mechanical engineering and math. Mark met his wife, Maureen in 1998 and got married in 2001, going on to have 2 boys – Justin (20) and Brandon (16). Work was a big part of Mark’s life. Following his education, Mark spent his entire career in the energy industry with over twenty years in a career at Siemens Energy. Mark was a very quiet man, but once you got to know him you’d know he had a heart of gold, was very driven and would do anything for his loved ones. His passion was his family and his two sons, Justin, and Brandon. As a family they traveled a lot as they did over this Christmas trip to Colorado. Mark was an avid sports fan, who continued to support his alma mater Clemson throughout his life. Anyone who knew Mark knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Mark was predeceased in death by his mother, Margaret (2015) and his brother Chad (2016). He is survived by his wife, two sons, dad Melvin, stepmother Heather, and his brother Todd. The Celebration of Life service will take place at 2pm on January 16th and because of the current pandemic, the service will be virtual and attended by only very close family and friends.

Maureen, you and the boys are in my prayers! Today's service honoring Mark's life was so beautiful, and I thank you for making it where we could all share this time with you, we couldn't be there in person but we are with you in spirit. To Melvin, that was such a beautiful, heartfelt letter that you shared with us all, thank you! We will all deeply miss Mark's presence here on earth, but we know that we will meet again when our time comes to meet our Heavenly Father. My heart is with you all, today, and always. It all still feels so surreal, and I know that it does for you as well, but with God's love, and God's love is beyond understanding, and His comfort, today and in the days to come, our hearts will heal. I love you all!

Dear Maureen, Justin and Brandon, I am so so sorry for your loss. Mark was always fun and kind to me. I remember meeting him many years ago when y'all were first dating. Most recently I remember heading to Cocoa Beach in the truck with everyone for a fun beach day. I hope you all find comfort knowing he is with Jesus and that you will meet again in heaven. Hold on to each other and the precious memories with him. God bless you, Heather

Grief never ends...but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith... It is the price of Love.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. There are no words, just know that all of you are in our thoughts, we love all of you, and are here for all of you. Love Always The Mueller’s in NJ
