Some people look at a blank canvas and see a vacant space. But, an artist worth her salt will look at that canvas and ENVISION infinite possibilities. Nancy Padilla Arjoonsingh was born an artist. She lived 72 years before she was called home to Christ on the evening of Wednesday, September 9, 2020.
Much of Nancy’s story is about launching into the unknown, whether it was moving from Ponce, Puerto Rico to New York City at the tender age of 18, earning a spot at the famed Fashion Institute of Technology despite her limited grasp of English at the time, or undertaking the enormous responsibility of raising a family. Through it all, we gravitated to Nancy for her unwavering love of God, family and friends, her tender heart for the most vulnerable in society, her staunch commitment to animal rights, her rhythm for good Latin music, and her unparalleled sense of humor. While many people talked about retirement and slowing down, Nancy launched into a second act that was an explosion of creativity in painting, sketches, floral design, photography, bargain hunting, and worldwide travel.
Nancy is survived by her intrepid travel companion and husband of 49 years, Jaiseery Arjoonsingh, beloved children Lakshmi and Jay Arjoonsingh, many cherished siblings, including her dear sister Edna Padilla, and her canine babies Brisky and Bruzer.
Mourners may pay their final respects Thursday, September 17, 2020 from five p.m. to eight p.m. at Baldwin-Fairchild Oviedo Funeral Home, 501 E. Mitchell Hammock Road.

In her will, Nancy instructed that when we dress up for her homegoing, we should only wear black if we think we look good in it. She also asked for good Latin music. That means, get your vocal chords ready to sing, mi gente.
In lieu of flowers, the Arjoonsingh Family asks that you send a donation, in memory of Nancy, to any of the following charities:
St. Jude, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, or Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
However, we are sure that Nancy would smile on any genuine charity that protects animals, drives innovative research to eliminate cancer or alleviates the pain of children. Nancy was…and still is… about speaking up for the historically marginalized, the voiceless and the vulnerable.
Thank you.
With love
