Born in Clairton, PA on November 26,1928 to Leonards and Carry McCoy. Jeanne met her future husband Fred J Nero in 9th grade. Fred quit school to join the Navy and Jeanne graduated from Clairton High school in 1946. When Fred returned from the service in 1946, they resumed their relationship and were married June 11th 1948. Jeanne worked at the local Bell Telephone office as a telephone operator and then was employed in the Industrial Engineering Department in Clairton Steel Mill.
On November 7th 1949 the most important thing in their lives happened. The birth of their son Fred L Nero. From that day forwards their lives revolved around their son. She loved her son unconditionally and would do anything for him, the pride and joy of her life. He was the best thing that came out of her marriage. Fred and Jeanne had no more children at the advice of her doctors.
Jeanne held many positions of employment in her life. She worked as a Customer Service Rep. at Sears and in the clerical department also. She worked in the accounting department at the local bank and as a teller. She later became an optometrist assistant with Bettel Opticians until 2002 when she and Fred moved permanently to Florida. Although Jeanne liked some things about Florida especially being near Freddy and Shirl, she never got over her home sickness for Pennsylvania. She missed the mountains and change of season among other things.
Jeanne had many friends both in Pennsylvania and in Florida. Jeanne was active in her church in Clairton PA, the Bible Baptist Temple, and held many positions there. She attended Ft Christmas Baptists Church in Christmas Florida until she became a member of Lockwood Missionary Baptist Church here in Orlando.
Since 1949 it was almost impossible to remember Jeanne without Fred. They were always together and are now together again!
