

Patricia lived a life filled with kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
She was a devoted wife; she shared a life of unwavering love and companionship with her beloved husband Edward Hayden Jr for seventy years—a testament to the depth and endurance of their bond. Patricia’s husband Edward continues to carry forward the memories of their extraordinary journey together. Patricia was a loving mother to her three children Debra, Timothy, and Edward (Betsy) Hayden III, cherishing her family above all else and nurturing them with kindness, wisdom, and grace.
She devoted her professional life to nursing and the call she embraced with passion and pride. Patricia graduated from Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing with her RN and continued her education at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, NJ, where she received her BSN degree and certification to teach. Patricia taught at a local high school in Cresskill, NJ, was a certified case manager, served as president of the Case Managers Society of New Jersey, founder of Rehabilitation Nurse Group (RING), CEO of Local 825 Medical PPO, Emergency Room Supervisor, Evening Administrative Supervisor, created the first HomeCare Department with Discharge Planning, Rehabilitation and Visiting Home Care Nurses at Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, NJ, Pascack Valley Mental Health Auxiliary Organizer & First President, and taught nursing courses at Bergen Community College (Paramus, NJ).
Other organizations included: Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, Jersey Association of Rehabilitation Professionals, Home Health Agency of New Jersey, Discharge Planning Coordinators of New Jersey, and Emergency Department Nurses Association. Patricia also had her own business, Hayden Rehabilitation Consultants. Even in retirement, she remained committed to the field of nursing. She continued to attend nursing conferences year after year, staying connected to the community she valued. She served as an officer on the Ski Club of New Jersey Board and most recently served on the board of The Huntridge HOA. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading several novels a week.
Beyond her career, she found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She treasured her Friday breakfasts shared with her daughter and friends Donna, Dee, Doris, and group, and Tuesday Movie Group gatherings filled with laughter, conversation, and connection. She cherished morning conversations with her son Timothy and breakfasts on the porch in Lake George with Timothy and the Fitzgerald family. She especially enjoyed the company of her neighbors Jose and Madelyn, and the O’Connell family and their children. She was grateful for the many opportunities she had to travel the world, including memorable ski trips to Europe and out west, collecting experiences and stories she carried with her always.
Patricia was a deeply loving grandmother to her four grandchildren Eric, Jake, Jessica, and Richard (Hillary, Richard’s wife), and her two great-grandchildren Max and Elissa, whom she cared for very much. She cherished the time she spent helping raise her grandchildren, creating countless treasured memories that will live on in their hearts. Patricia also had a special place in her heart for her nephew Joseph Schmadel (wife Katherine) and their three children Andrew, Laura (husband Kevin, son Calvin), and Emma.
Patricia’s life was defined not by grand gestures, but by the steady, enduring presence she offered to those around her. Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and strength—qualities that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
