On Monday, September 30, 2019, Richard James D’Amico, loving son, brother, and uncle passed away at age 63 from complications of colon surgery. Richard was born on November 17, 1955 in Niagara Falls, New York to the late John and Marie (DeVita) D’Amico. He worked in manufacturing until his retirement in 2018. Richard is survived by his loving brother and sister, Ronald D’Amico, of Kissimmee, FL, and Roslyn (James) Koczan of Oviedo, FL; and nephew, Christopher (Rachel) Koczan and their children Ava and Evan of Oviedo, FL.
Due to his father’s military career, the D’Amico family moved to Toms River, NJ, in 1959, Virginia Beach VA, in 1964, Toms River, NJ in 1969, and then to Central Florida in 1978. He was a 1974 graduate of Toms River High School North. His work included the production of intricate circuit boards for computer equipment, the cutting and shaping of stone for commercial and residential buildings, and working in a clean room making semi-conductors for high-tech communication.
Richard was always a passionate sports fan of the New York Yankees, Notre Dame, and San Francisco 49ers. His photographic memory of their sports records and players was phenomenal. When he wasn’t watching a good ballgame he enjoyed the NHRA drag racing. He especially liked to attend the races where he could enjoy the feel, sound, and smell of hot rod power. Music was also special to Richard, who mostly enjoyed 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s rock with a mix of the Beatles. He enjoyed going to concerts, large and small, to celebrate the music of his favorite bands. Another passion was his playing baseball and softball as a high school and men’s league player. His office was filled with trophies in recognition of his talent and love of the game.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019, at 11:00am at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 113 Lockwood Blvd., Oviedo, FL 32765. A private graveside service will be held in Kissimmee, FL.
