Arlene is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, her sister Doris Bowling of Fresno and her twin infant brother Elvin. Arlene leaves behind her daughters, Julie Maldonado of Fresno and Amanda Smith of Salinas and her son Randy S. Rios of Salinas, her sisters Evelyn Palermo-Trindade of Los Banos and Kathleen Sachse of Fresno and her shi-tzu “Taffy”. Arlene also leaves an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends at the Asilomar Conference Center, where she was employed as the Director of Food and Beverage for almost 27 years. She loved the people she worked with at the Asilomar and often referred to many of them as her second family.
Arlene was proud to be of Portuguese decent and was a member of the Cabrillo Civic Club #28, F.D.E.S. and the 20-30 Club all in Monterey. She enjoyed interior design, arts and crafts, bowling, and travelling many times to her favorite vacation spot Hawaii.
Arlene’s greatest joy was her three children. She gave unconditional love and was always there to lend a hand whenever needed. Her smile and kind heart would always light up any room she walked into.
Friends… while there are no words to express to you the sadness we feel for the loss of our Mom, we know the world is a lesser place without her. But we know she is with God and all the Saints and Angels, and I’m sure even Heaven has improved by her presence there. We know you too are sure of this, and yet this knowledge can't diminish her loss or our grief. “Mom… May God hold you in his arms and comfort you as you can now rest and breathe easy knowing your life is complete.” Our beautiful Mother will be dearly missed, but wonderfully remembered.
