I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Mrs. Hill.  She was my 5th grade teacher at Elisabeth Sherman School in Oakland. She was the teacher who inspired me to read and instilled in me a lifelong love affair with literature. Every time I see a copy of "The 21 Balloons" by William Pène du Bois, I think fondly of her. After she left Sherman, I lost track of her but reconnected with her when she was the principal at Redwood Heights. It was there that I was able to thank her for her inspiration. I began my career as an OUSD mother at Redwood Heights shortly after she left that school but it was always fun when she would come to visit.
Thank you Mrs. Hill for your service to public education and for showing a young girl the world of books.  May you rest in peace.
