Chloeann Williams
(11/11/1925 - 7/2/2012)
Our beloved mother, Chloeann Owens Williams, passed away today surrounded by her family and supported by the incredible staff of Forest Hill Manor where she made her home for the past 17 years.
Chloe was born in Los Angeles in 1925 and was proud to be a California native. A driven, intelligent woman, Chloe was considered a pioneer in many arenas commonly fominated by men. In her youth, she raised prize animals as a valued member of Future Farmers of America. In her early twenties she became the 51st woman member of The National Ski Patrol; a very select group. Further, she was an avid mountaineer, summiting a majority of the peaks within the Northwest Cascade Range.
After graduating from the University of Oregon, Chloe entered the next phase of her life. In 1953, she met and married Episcopal Priest, Evan Williams. The couple and their budding family eventually settled in Encino, CA where Chloe flourished as a clergy wife, supporting her husbands's vibrant parish for over twenty years. After her husband's death (1987) Chloe moved to Pacific Grove, CA to be near her eldest daughter and granddaughter. Chloe became a resident of Forest Hill Manor in1995.
Some of the highlights of Chloe's life include her four children - Sarah, Owen, Stefana, and Anwylyd - and her four grandchildren - Rachael, Evan, Christina, and Allison. She also treasured her visits to the mountainous regions of the world, including a trek in the Himalayas, visits to India, SE Asia, and the Swiss Alps. Per her request, the family will place part of her ashes with her husband in Encino and hike the remaining portion up to her favorite place on the majestic slopes of Mount Hood. In her honor, in lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Blind and Visually Impaired Center of Pacific Grove or Forest Hill Manor, whose staff cared passionately for Chloe for the last 17 years of her life.
Dearest Chloe, you will be missed!
