Dan grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri and graduated from Kirkwood High School. He excelled at math, science, and photography; he was president of the high school Speleological Society and member of the Chemistry Club.
After graduating high school and attending Southern Illinois University, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was last stationed at George Air Force Base in California and chose to live in the San Francisco area after discharge. From there he moved to the Santa Cruz area where he lived for many years until his recent move to Monterey.
He became a true Californian and loved exploring the natural environment along the coast, mountains, and desert. Along the way he earned a private pilot license and flew small aircraft. Photography was a life long focus and he enjoyed photographing a wide variety of subjects through out his journey.
Dan was a generous, kind person, lived a full and interesting life and he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
