November 29, 1943 – May 30, 2026
With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law and friend, Daryoush Afshar.
Born on November 11, 1943, in Mashhad, Iran, to Azim and Marzieh, he grew up with a love for nature, knowledge, and freedom. He devoted his professional life to forestry engineering, finding joy and purpose in the mountains, forests, and gardens that reflected the beauty of God's creation. Throughout his life, he remained deeply connected to the natural world, tending plants and gardens with the same care and patience that he showed to the people he loved.
A man of open mind and independent spirit, he carried within him a profound appreciation for liberty and human dignity. The events of the 1979 Revolution left him heartbroken and unable to recognize the country he loved. Determined that his children would have opportunities unavailable to him, he made the difficult and selfless decision to send both of his sons abroad. It was a sacrifice born entirely of love and a father's unwavering commitment to his children's future.
At the center of his life was his beloved wife, Soli, whom he loved with all his heart. Their marriage was a partnership of devotion, loyalty, and affection that endured through every season of life. He was equally devoted to his sons, Manochehr and Ali, for whom no sacrifice was too great. He gave them not only his support and guidance but everything he had to offer.
In later years, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren; Sare, Sima, Suren, and Ryan, whose lives filled him with pride, hope, and happiness.
Those who knew him will remember a man of exceptional kindness, humility, and generosity. He possessed the warmth of an older Iran; an Iran of hospitality, poetry, friendship, and family. His home was always open, his advice always sincere, and his heart always generous. He measured success not by wealth or status, but by love, integrity, and the well-being of those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Soli; his loving sons, Manochehr and Ali; his cherished grandchildren, Sare, Sima, Suren, and Ryan; his beloved sister, Parivash; and his dear brother, Iraj, and his much-loved daughters-in-law Bernadette and Samaneh (Sami). He was preceded in death by his parents, Azim and Marzieh.
Although he has departed from this world, his memory lives on in the hearts of all who loved him. We take comfort in the Persian saying that "A good name remains when all else passes." His was a life marked by honor, kindness, and devotion, and his legacy will endure through the family he cherished and the values he passed on to future generations.
May his memory forever be a blessing, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.
