Elaine Agnes Finnberg Herndon

Dr. Elaine Finnberg Herndon, a Peninsula resident since 1981, passed away on November 6 after a long battle with cancer. She was a well-known and well-respected clinical psychologist who specialized in behavioral medicine and forensic psychology.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY and relocated to San Francisco, CA in 1976 to complete her education. There she met the love of her life, her husband Rodney Herndon, who preceded her in death. They lived in San Francisco, Monterey, Seaside and Pacific Grove during their 33 years of marriage. Her parents, Agnes and Benjamin Finnberg, also have preceded her in death.

She is survived by their son, Andrew Herndon; her honorary son, William and grandson, Henry Wheeler; her Goddaughter, Alta Steiner of Winter Garden FL; honorary sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Curtis of Edmonds WA; cousins and wonderful, cherished friends.

Visitation will be at The Paul Mortuary in Pacific Grove thisThursday, November 15 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Monterey the following day, Friday, November 16 at 1:30 pm. Interment will be with Rodney at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA.
