Frank Thomas Silva

Frank Thomas Silva, 101, of Pacific Grove, California, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025. A devoted husband, father, and friend to many, Frank will be remembered for his generous heart, steadfast work ethic, and creative spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Born on October 9, 1924, in Gridley, California, to John Thomas and Rose Perry Silva, Frank grew up alongside his siblings, Evelyn Heugo and William Silva. He began his career as a dairy farmer in the San Joaquin Valley, where his deep respect for the land and animals shaped his lifelong love for nature—especially his cherished horse, Tony.

On October 30, 1954, Frank married the love of his life, Agnes Silva, in Dos Palos, California. Their marriage was a partnership built on dedication and laughter that lasted until Agnes’s passing in 2020. Together they raised four children, Lorene Rodrock, Beverly Paxton, Frank T. Silva Jr., and Karen Grimshaw, whom he loved deeply and supported unconditionally.

In 1959, Frank moved his family to Pacific Grove, where he began an admired career at Pebble Beach Golf Course. His hard work and leadership led him to serve as Superintendent of Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and Old Del Monte Golf Courses before finishing his career as Superintendent of the San Jose Municipal Golf Course, retiring in 1989. Retirement opened the door to his favorite pastime—woodworking. From his garage workshop, he spent countless happy hours crafting pieces that reflected both his creativity and care.

Frank was active in the community through the YMCA’s Ys Men support group and the I-HELP program. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He cherished attending his children’s and grandchildren’s music and sporting events and was loved for his fun-loving personality.

Frank is survived by his children: Lorene Rodrock (David), Beverly Paxton (Sky), Frank T. Silva Jr., and Karen Grimshaw. Grandchildren, Samuel Wallace (Nicole), Rachelle Rodrock, Sara Wallace, John-Charles Silva (Amber), Penny Paxton (Jesse), Skye-Marie Anderson (Josh), Michael Grimshaw (Andrea), Tyler Paxton, Abram Silva (Stephanie). Great Grandchildren Bella, Taliyah, Ava, Ellison, Keana, StarLynn, Araya, Madison, Patrick, Oliver and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Evelyn Heugo (Julio) and William Silva (Francis), son in-law Samuel Wallace and his beloved wife, Agnes.

A Funeral Mass will be held on December 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Angela Merici Catholic Church in Pacific Grove. Viewing and Rosary December 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at Bayside Community Mortuary in Seaside. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the VNA Hospice for their compassionate care of Frank in his final days.
