
Carmel ~ Beautiful beloved wife and mother, Jeanelle was born to James William Boon and Hixie Bruce in Camp Hill, Alabama on February 16, 1925. She graduated from Auburn University in 1945 with a B.A. in Business Administration and a minor in aeronautical engineering and was a member of the honor society, Phi Kappa Phi. Jeanelle worked for the Army before marrying her husband, Roy, in 1949 and subsequently lived in Japan, Germany and Italy during Roy’s Asian and European Army tours of duty.
Jeanelle and Roy bought Sycamore Farm in Carmel Valley in 1954. Settling here after Roy’s service retirement in 1965, she became a successful real estate broker while raising their three children. Jeanelle was listed in “Who’s Who in Creative Real Estate,” and was secretary of the Carmel Valley Chamber of Commerce for many years, from which she received the noted “Good Egg” award. She was actively involved in the local chapter of the women’s professional network, Soroptimist International.
Jeanelle loved beautiful floral landscapes, art and piano music, especially classic hymns. She was an avid reader, enjoying interesting biographies, intriguing mysteries and entertaining humor. She loved to donate her time and resources to organizations that supported underprivileged youth and impoverished elderly in her community and across the United States.
Jeanelle is survived by her husband of 61 years, Roy; her daughters, Mary (Chris) Currier of Carmel Valley and Susann (David) Valenza of Grove City, PA; her son, Roy of San Clemente, CA and four grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony, Angelina and Ryder.
In celebration of Jeanelle’s life, memorial services will be held Saturday, August 6, at 2:00 pm at Cypress Community Church, Monterey-Salinas Hwy. In lieu of flowers, contributions on Jeanelle’s behalf may be made to her favorite charities:
