Johanna was the first of three girls born to Pietro and Rose Roccia. She was born and raised in Monterey with her sister,s Phyllis and Josephine.
After she graduated from Monterey High School in 1953, she began a long career at Coast Counties Title Company. In 1955, she married Salvatore Sercia. They had four children together. They unfortunately lost Sal in an accident and Johanna was widowed at a young age.
In 1980, she ran into Tony Ferrante, an old high school classmate. They married a year later and she inherited three step-children.
Tony and Johanna loved to travel together and enjoyed many cruises and trips with family and friends. She was a long time member of the Italian Catholic Federation for many years.
Johanna was a kind and loving soul who made everyone feel loved, seen, and appreciated no matter who they were, family or not. She truly lived her life in accordance with Galatians 5:22-23; her very presence embodied the fruit of the Spirit. Although she is missed physically, her memory and the love she gave will always live in our hearts.
Johanna is survived by her children, Peter (Christina), Annamarie Sercia Bruno, John (Christina), Joe (Mary), Barbara (Terry), Brian (Jill), and grandchildren, Joy Sercia, Jenell Sercia, Sal Sercia, Peter Sercia (Jenna), Steven Bruno (Danny), Ashley Sercia, Gina Bruno, AJ Ferrante, and Tori Ferrante. She is also survived by great- grandchildren, Maria, Michele, and Sienna.
Johanna is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, her husbands, her son, Salvatore, and her grandson, Vince.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, located at 362 Lighthouse Ave. in Pacific Grove, CA on February 25, 2026 at 10:30 am.
The committal service will follow at San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont St., Monterey, CA.
