Marianne shared a great love affair with George, her soul mate. Marianne and George raised their family in Marin County. Marianne shared George’s love of the sea. She shared many beautiful days sailing San Francisco Bay as George’s first mate on their sailboat, Java Head. Their children, grandchildren and many friends remember those special days fondly.
Marianne was always the life of the party. She loved singing and is remembered for filling the room with her beautiful voice. She nurtured friends and family and made everyone feel special and welcome. George and Marianne moved to Carmel Valley in 1981. She loved trotting her horses across the river with George to Garland Park. She loved sharing her home, her beautiful garden, and adventures along the river with her many grandchildren.
Marianne had a passion for helping the less fortunate. We remember her marching in protest of the Vietnam War. She also supported Cesar Chavez’s movement for farm workers, marching in Fresno with her best friend, Shirley Lopez. She continued her commitment to helping those in need by delivering and fund-raising for Meals on Wheels. George and Marianne delivered meals together and made many friends along the way.
In 1989, Marianne and George lost their third child, John Francis Lino. During the healing process, they found support from the San Francisco Chapter of Compassionate Friends. She eventually volunteered as treasurer and was influential in the opening of a new chapter of Compassionate Friends in Monterey County.
Marianne was born in Seattle, the daughter of Mary and Leo Allerton. She is loved by her husband George, her three children, Eileen (Mark) Lewis, Jim (Kathryn) Lino, Andrew (Heather) Lino, her adored grandchildren Jeffrey, Monica, Gigi, and Gabi Lewis, Ali, Sam, and Beau Lino, Sarah, Bryson, and Grace Lino, her brother, Robert Allerton, his daughter Kaitlin, and many nieces and nephews.
