First my condolences...

An old friend of the Cudahy family from Lake Forest is my mother-in-law - Jackie Smith, wife of Brooks Smith (Smith's Men's Store).

She told me a story about a 1930's Model 'A' firetruck owned by Brooks and sold to Michael Sr. after Brooks' passing.

I was trying to track down if you were the correct Cudahy family and if you know what happened to the firetruck...  Brooks' daughter, Jameson, & I currently own the 1931 Model 'A' from the Smith family.

Again, I apologize for contacting you this way; but, I ran out of options.

        I was saddened to read of Michael's death.    Mary Gay and I met you (with Mike) with Dean and Bunny Frisbie in Green Valley several years ago.     Mike was a close friend for 3 years at Deerfield, and then, after his adventure at Yale and mine at Cornell, for 3+ years at Colorado College and the Kappa Sigma fraternity.     I value those years and his friendship.

Mike was a great person, friend, mentor, second father, and business partner. He meant so much to all of us at Rock Island Foods. He taught me so much throughout my career and i was so fortunate to have him take me under his wing and teach me so much. He pushed me hard and always made sure i was on track. I always felt that i had an additional 4 years of college and then got my masters degree from the Michael Cudahy School of Business. I went to work for Michael about the same time my Dad died and he was such a big influence in my career. So many great stories and experiences over the years. It was such an honor to have had the opportunity to be part of his life. One of the most memorable times was when we were able to meet up withTerry and Debbie Gould, Mary and Michael, and my family in Hawaii. I was so happy that he was able to meet my boys and we will always cherish that time. We will miss him greatly.

Mike was a terrific guy. I enjoyed many years of golf with him at San Francisco Golf Club. He will be missed.
