

Peter was born in Santa Monica, CA on March 20, 1931. His parents were Marion and Thomas Lampman originally from Victoria, B.C., Canada. In 1938 his family, including older sister Judy, moved to the San Mateo area where Peter attended and in 1949 graduated from Burlingame High School. From there Peter attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and graduated in 1954 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
For the next two years Peter was in the U.S. Navy, first as an Engineering Officer on a submarine chaser stationed at Pearl Harbor and later as an Engineering Officer on a squadron of mine sweepers stationed in Sasebo, Japan. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, in 1956, Peter joined the Canning Machinery Division of Food Machinery & Chemical Corporation (later FMC Corp.) in San Jose, CA as an Application Engineer.
In late 1958, 20 year old Catherine Mikos sped by his apartment window at the Villa Apartments in her black MG Roadster with top down, moving up from Monterey looking for a place to live. In 1960 he married Catherine, the partner and love of his life. Catherine fully supported and was by his side for all the adventures life would take them on around the world.
In late 1960 he was transferred to Sacramento, CA as President and General Manager of Vitafreeze Equipment Inc., a recently acquired subsidiary of FMC Corp. manufacturing ice-cream freezing equipment.
Four years later, in 1964, he moved his family that now included Cathy, Christine 2 ½ years and Scott 1 ½ years to Melbourne, Australia where Peter was transferred as Managing Director of FMC Australia, a company listed on the Melbourne Stock Exchange and manufacturer of FMC’s line of canning machinery equipment, pear harvesters, tomato harvesters, orchard sprayers, Peerless deep well turbine pumps, airline ground handling equipment, Powell abattoir and rendering plant equipment and Blaw Knox evaporators and spray dryers. Peter’s responsibilities included manufacturing and marketing these products throughout Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and India.
Eight years later, in 1972, Peter was transferred to Tehran, Iran as Managing Director of FMC’s agricultural development activities in Iran where the family moved along with Jennifer, their Australian family addition.
Four years later Peter was transferred back to San Jose, CA as Vice President of FMC International, managing FMC’s worldwide agricultural development activities with major projects in the then Soviet Union near Odessa, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Philippines, and Nigeria.
Retiring from FMC in 1987 Peter joined The Hewlett-Packard Co. in Cupertino, CA where he spent the last 12 years of his business carrier.
Following retirement Peter and Cathy moved to Pebble Beach, CA where they had been long time members of Monterey Peninsula Country Club with Peter on the Board and Club President in 2003.
During the summers you could always find the Lampman family enjoying their property on the Cowichan River on Vancouver Island, fishing, golfing, cruising on the waters north of Vancouver Island, and enjoying relatives and friends in Canada.
Peter is survived by his three children, Christine (husband Dan), Scott (wife Brinda), Jennifer (husband Scot) and six grandchildren, Amanda (32 years), Perry (29 years), Spencer (27 years), Haley (26 years), Ty (17 years) and Jace (15 years).
