Pebble Beach ~ Ruth Jones, a fifty-eight year Peninsula resident, passed away at her home. A native of Mitchell, South Dakota, she and her husband, Harry, owned Jones Woodcraft in Pacific Grove for many years and she also worked as a ceramicist in Carmel for over thirty-six years.
Ruth was an active member of the DAR serving as Regent of the Commodore Sloat Chapter and moving on to serve as State Regent for California. She was an avid genealogist as well as a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. Ruth was a gifted leader and public speaker and enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors for Forest Hill Manor.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mariruth Coffin of Monterey; her grandchildren, Kerri Compagno, Kyle Coffin, Melissa Findley and Melanie Coffin and nine great-grandchildren. Following the death of Harry, her husband of forty-eight years, in 1990, she reconnected with her lost love, Warren Jorgenson, in 1995. Ruth was also preceded in death by her son, Douglas H. Jones in 2006, her siblings, Norman Harrison and Florence Harrison Coughlin and her niece, Mary Kay Coughlin.
