Mrs. Kieff was my 6th grade teacher at McCloskey Elementary School in 1963-64.  Without a doubt, she was the best teacher I ever had anywhere.  Truly gifted, she had a way of making each of us work toward realizing our potential.  She was a no-nonsense, strict taskmaster, utterly dedicated to truly educating each one of us.  At the same time, she was the most loving, caring, and gentle person - a true substitute for your parents during the school day - and worked tirelessly to get us all to learn.  Teaching was a calling to her - and it showed.  She loved teaching - and it showed.  Her students - me included - loved her and (speaking for myself) tried to live up to the high standards she expected for the balance of our academic careers.  A highlight of my day in the 6th grade was waving to her as she drove past my Safety Patrol Post at Forrest and Gowen Avenues in her blue Oldsmobile 98 on her way to school each morning. 

I lost track of her and just stumbled across this obituary almost 6 years after her death.  I know she is resting in peace, secure in the knowledge that she was a positive influence in the lives of hundreds of students who will never forget her.  If there is any justice, she is at the right hand of God, teaching a 6th grade class!  RIP, Mrs. Kieff.

 I am very sorry for your loss. She taught me in 2nd,3rd and 4th at Pennypacker School. She was my favorite teacher and she was an exceptional teacher and more important she was an exceptional person.

Mrs. Kieff was my second grade teacher at McCloskey. I loved her dearly and visited her in West Palm Beach. She was such a wonderful role model and her memory will live on forever. She will always have a place in my heart. Linda Brody

    I am very sorry to hear that your dear mother passed. It was just posted on face book. Just like to tell you that my brother Murray Bidner had your mom for sixth grade. I remember him saying how wonderful of a teacher she was. Stay strong and may D-d bless you.

Mrs. Kieff was my sixth grade teacher at McCloskey.  I didn't know then, but I learned afterward what a wonderful teacher she was and the values she instilled in our young minds.  I also brought her tailored clothes to her.  Jack Bloch, my neighbor and my parent's best friend was her tailor.  I will let Mrs. Bloch know of her passing.  Mrs Bloch just turned 91.  Mr. Bloch passed a couple of years ago.  Mrs. Kieff will be missed.

Mrs Kieff was my 5th grade teacher at McKloskey in Phila. I am happy to see she lived a long life!
