We here in faraway Australia are all shattered to hear the sad news that your dad John
has passed away.
As you know so well, the passage of time never really heals the tragic memory of such a great loss, but we carry on, because we have to, because our loved ones would want us to
Even though we lived so far away from each other  there was always a very special bond between us and we  are all united not only in our desire to pay our respects to John  but rather in our need to do so. John was a remarkable person who always held his head high and gave endlessly to those around him.
Now there is an empty space where once a man worked played and bent down to take the hands of children.
It’s a very large void , not so much because his physical presence is now gone , but more because the way in which he shared himself, was something that filled us with the sense that we were someone special to him- as special as John  was to us.
And that space can never be filled. 
We weep because we loved this kind and tender man who persevered through ups and downs — not for the sake of ambition or vanity; not for wealth or power; but only for the people and the FAMILY that he loved.
John loved and adored his immediate and extended family and
grief is the price that we pay for love. John loved this family with all of his heart, and all  of us loved him wholeheartedly in return.
