A family treasure was lost this week with the peaceful passing of Phyllis Jean Panzer Ehrlich on March 6, 2026. Phyllis was born October 1, 1936, in Brooklyn New York. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended the University of Connecticut. On February 18, 1956, she married the love of her life, Jack Ehrlich, whom she met and dated in high school. They settled in Dumont, NJ, where they raised three children. Phyllis served as a Girl Scout leader for her daughters, and then began working in the photo-finishing industry. She eventually finished her professional career as a successful salesperson at Continental Credit Company. She enjoyed golfing, mah jongg, canasta and socializing with her many friends, and of course, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very family oriented and enjoyed hosting all the major holiday festivities at her home. Phyllis and Jack traveled the world, visiting Acapulco annually, and many additional countries including Italy, France, Egypt, Israel and other exciting destinations. The highlight for everyone was a family cruise in the Caribbean to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
In 1997, she and Jack retired to Florida where they made many new friends. Phyllis was president of their homeowners association in Ibis. They loved dining out with their new friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack; her parents, Lillian and Jerome Panzer; her brother, Michael and his wife Judy; and her grandsons, Jesse Garran and Zachary Lorenz.
She is survived by her sister, Linda (Stan) Kase; children, Bill (Susan) Ehrlich, Joy (Gary) Garran, Mindy (Michael) Lorenz; her grandchildren, Jenna Sherfer (fiancé Anthony Seniakevgch), Greg (Gabbye) Ehrlich, Lexi Lorenz and Josh Garran; greatgrandchildren Jesse, Anthony and Remi; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
