Phyllis Katz of Royal Palm Beach passed away on Friday, January 14th, 2022. She was 83 years old.
Phyllis was born in Philadelphia, PA and she attended Temple University. She married Paul Katz in June of 1962 and they made Long Island, NY their home until retiring to The Village of Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Phyllis worked in Education and in Public Relations while living in New York. After moving to Royal Palm Beach, she spent most of her time volunteering for various organizations in her community. She served several terms as President of her local Hadassah Chapter and as President of Young at Heart, a Seniors Activities Program in Royal Palm Beach. She loved organizing events and programs especially orchestrating fun trips, luncheons, and activities for the Seniors. She also served on the Board of Advisors for the Village of Royal Palm Beach Parks and Recreation Department. Phyllis’s contributions to the Village of Royal Palm Beach were vast. She was one of six residents that was honored by the Village for her many years of community service during their 60th Anniversary Celebration in July of 2019. Phyllis also had an extreme love for the theatre. She told stories of her Uncle Jules taking her to shows as a girl and instilling in her this passion for music and plays. She loved the theatre so much that when she wasn’t attending shows she was volunteering at the Kravitz Center of West Palm Beach.
Phyllis loved spending time with her Grandchildren Noah and Abby and enjoyed watching them grow up in Royal Palm Beach. She got extreme joy from regularly attending their sporting events, school plays, cheerleading competitions, graduation celebrations, team fund raisers and much more.
She was preceded in death by Paul Katz (Husband), David Katz (Son), Benjamin Spector (Father), Reba Spector (Mother) and Barbara Ruth (Sister).
Phyllis’s legacy includes her son Barry Katz and daughter-in-law Tammy Anderson Katz, her grandchildren Noah Katz and Abby Katz, all of Royal Palm Beach, Florida. She is also survived by her brother Eugene Spector of Philadelphia, PA, and his family.
