Arminda Rivera Mesa

Arminda was the cherished daughter of Daniel and Carmen Flores Rivera and the eldest of 16 siblings. She moved to Mission, Texas, at the age of 12 and was an accomplished student, actively participating in sports and playing the clarinet in the band. She met her beloved future husband, Tomas C. Mesa Sr, through a family friend while attending business school in San Antonio, Texas. They were introduced in June 1955 while Tomas was serving at Randolph Air Force Base. They were married on January 15, 1956, marking the beginning of a devoted 60-year marriage. Arminda's hobbies included gardening, visiting the casino, and dancing. She was known for her strength, independence, and love of travel, qualities she instilled in her children. She had a strong sense of family and was a devout Catholic, passing her faith to her siblings and later to her children. Arminda was also a dedicated member of the Guadalupanas at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church where she and her husband Tomas were integral parts of the new vision and direction in the church that they have today.

She is survived by her loving children, Tomas C. Mesa Jr. wife June of Houston, Texas, Jose A. Mesa wife Sylvia of Deer Park, Texas, Francisco X. Mesa of Pasadena, Texas and Zita C. Moreno husband R. Albert of Houston Texas. Arminda was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Tomas C. Mesa Sr., her daughter Marie I. Morales, her father Daniel Rivera, her mother Carmen Flores Rivera, and two sisters and six brothers.

A viewing and rosary will be held at Grandview Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas, 77505 on Tuesday, October 21, from 5-8 PM, with the Rosary beginning at 6:30 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22, at 10:00 AM at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church located at, 3301 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, Texas, 77503, followed by her burial at Grandview Bethany Cemetery.
