

Cherry Joyce Loftin went to Heaven on Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 in Friendswood, Texas at the age of 79. She was born on August 6th, 1932 in Concord, Texas to James Pope and Bessie Martin Pope. She married Coy Lee Loftin of Jacksonville, Texas on February 24th, 1950. Cherry was a former LVN in Jacksonville. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Pasadena for 42 years where she nurtured hundreds of children as Director of the Pre-school Division including Sunday School, nursery programs, and Mother’s Day Out. Cherry is survived by sons, Coy Lee Loftin, Jr.; Gary Loftin and wife Denise; daughters Sherry Sivertson; Ruby Bettis and husband Joe. She is survived by six grandchildren: Kelli Frealy and husband Jason; Brandon Coy Sivertson; Keith Loftin; Sanna Elza and husband Rich; Joe Bettis, Jr.; and Kirk Loftin. Cherry is also survived by three great-grandchildren Daniela, Nicholas, and Michael Frealy, all of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Peters and husband Dr. Robert Peters of Round Rock, Texas. Cherry leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and other family members. Cherry was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Lee Loftin, Sr., her parents, 8 brothers and one sister, and granddaughter, Kristi Nicole Loftin. She loved God and her family above all else. For the last three years, Cherry lived at Friendship Haven in Friendswood where she was lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff which she loved dearly. It was her home away from home. Visitation is at Grand View Funeral Home on Thursday, September 1st from 6pm-8pm. The funeral service will be at 2pm on Friday, September 2nd, at Grand View Funeral Home.
