

Daniel E. Lopez, age 71, of La Porte, Tx passed away peacefully with family by his side on February, 12th 2022. He was born on September 29th, 1950 in San Antonio, Tx. He was raised in the rural town of Somerset, Tx where he graduated high school in 1969. Daniel joined the Marine Corp and proudly served his country from 1972-1976. Family was the most important thing in his life, and he took great pride in his ancestry. He spent countless hours on genealogy. His other hobbies included, gardening, playing the guitar, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts and honored with the title, "Popcorn Kernel". He was a jokester. He often impressed people with his ability to remember things like jokes, but also anything else he came across. Daniel had a do-it-yourself mentality and his own saying, “If it ain’t broke, I can’t fix it.” In other words, he could fix anything!
He was preceeded in death by his parents Eusebio and Sara, younger brother Jesse (who died in infancy), son Robert, grand baby Christian and brother-in-law Robert. He is survived by his wife Jean; children: Daniel wife Darlene, Victor, Deanna husband Frank, Denise, Jill husband Bob, and Kristi; his siblings: Victor wife Olivia, Teddy wife Maria, Joe wife Cecy, Sylvia husband Carlos, Sarah husband Anthony, Sally and Mary husband Michael; grandchildren: Kalena, Aidan, Gavin, Logan, Brice wife Tasha, Adam wife Aisha, Samantha husband Arturo, Trey wife Grace and Clayton; great grandchildren: Roman, Christian, Alex, Bree, Connor, Jaxon, Mason and Evan, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The viewing will be at Grandview Funeral Home, in Deer Park, Tx on February 23rd from 5-8pm with a 6pm rosary service. The funeral services will be at Grandview from 9:30-10:30am on February 24th. This will be followed by a short military funeral service at the Houston National Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Drive at 12:40pm where his body will be laid to rest. Please arrive by 12:30 and bring a mask in case there are Covid-19 restrictions.
No flowers can be displayed graveside at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Danny’s wish for donations to the American Cancer society in his name. Visit cancer.org to donate.
