Donald Allen Barnard

Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Donald A. Barnard, 79 years old, went home on December 25, 2015. Donald was born in Borger, Texas to Daniel Ashley and Doris Kathleen Barnard on July 13, 1936. Donald is preceded death by his parents, son Barry Barnard, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Don is survived by his wife of 33 years Roxanne, daughter Donnie Knight and husband David, daughter-in-law Jenna Barnard, sister Grace White and husband Charles, grandchildren Laken Hartman and husband Paul, Shelby Knight, Fisher and Claire Barnard, 1 great grandchild Carter Hartman, numerous nieces and nephew, and a host of extended family and friends. Don was a member of prevailing Faith Church in Pasadena, Texas. He joined the Houston Police Department in 1959. Don retired from the helicopter division of HPD with 20 years of service. He went to work for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as an investigator and the retired with 17 years of service. Because of his love of working he continued with numerous other jobs that fulfilled his desire to stay active. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 211 and continued welding throughout his life. He welded gates, trailers, barbeque pits and would teach welding to other along the way. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Celebration of Life on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00am, all at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
