

Mrs. Stanfill was born on December 26, 1931 to her parents, Bruce and Lucinda Dykes in Soso Mississippi. She married James Stanfill (Stan) on July 1, 1959. The Stanfills moved all across the country, from Florida to California, due to Stan’s 20-year career with the U.S. Navy. Upon his retirement, they settled in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Stanfill was a talented seamstress and could sew anything from a magazine picture including prom dresses. She valued higher education and encouraged her daughters to attend college. She was very practical and offered sound advice on a wide-variety of subjects. In her later years, she got much enjoyment from spending time with her great-granddaughter, Elena Rios.
Mrs. Stanfill is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Stanfill, daughter and son-in law Deborah and Alan Currie of Houston, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Philip Gates of Denver, Colorado and daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Johnny Flores of Pasadena, Texas, five grandchildren and 1 great-grand daughter. She is also survived by her sisters, Zelda Brunson of Pasadena, Texas and Norma Jean Shelton of Chula Vista, CA. She is preceded in death by her brother Gerald Dykes of Deweyville, Texas.
Mrs. Stanfill will be buried at the Houston National Cemetery on August 1, 2019. Visitation and service will take place on August 2, 2019 at Grand View Funeral Home at 8501 Spencer Highway in Pasadena, Texas at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively.
