

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Dorothy Jo Tanner. She was born on January 27th,1932 in Hedley, TX to parents Buck & Lilly Meek. She was married to Jack Tanner for 63 years. She peacefully departed from this world on March 10th, 2024 surrounded by family. She was a inspiration of love, kindness, and wisdom to all who knew her.
Dorothy's legacy extends far beyond her years. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she touched the lives of many with her boundless compassion & generosity. She was a beacon of selflessness & approached folks with kindness and empathy, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, where laughter rang freely and memories were cherished.
She grew up as one of the best basketball players in her district & continuing that passion for basketball all throughout life, as she was an avid Houston Rockets fan. Some of her other hobbies included being a seamstress sewing dance costumes for entire troupes, volunteering as an election worker, studying genealogy, or playing puzzles & games.
Throughout her life, Dorothy embodied resilience and grace, weathering storms with courage and grace. Her unwavering belief in the power of love and family served as a guiding light for generations to come. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever live on in the memories we hold dear.
She is preceded in death by her late husband Jack. She is leaves behind her daughter Susie (Larry) Curbello & 2 grandsons Craig & Casey (Maya) Curbello.
Dorothy will be dearly missed but never forgotten. As we bid farewell to our cherished queen, let us take comfort in knowing that she has found peace in the embrace of eternity.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A graveside service will occur Friday, March 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grand View Funeral Home.
