Edna Louise Westbrook was born January 14, 1930 in Port Arthur, Texas. She was born and raised in her childhood home along with her older brother. Her mother was from Texas and her father was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands and she was very proud of her heritage. Their home was always opening and welcoming to others. She inherited the same giving heart.
She had a passion for all types of art. She loved oil and watercolor painting and dabbled in ceramics. She loved to crochet during quiet times. Many of her projects have become family treasures. She was also a master seamstress. She could see a dress, sketch a picture and make a perfect duplicate.
She married Marvin Westbrook from Litchfield, Illinois. Mom always lovingly referred to him as the Yankee in the family. They met while she was working as a secretary in Port Arthur. Once married, she became a mother and homemaker. Her little family hopscotched across the US due to her husband’s job as a cost accountant for refinery construction. With every move, she made every place a real home. After years of traveling, the family settled in Deer Park. There she continued to raise her three daughters and welcomed five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She loved her role as a mother and grandmother.
Through the years she was a faithful and active member of every church she attended. Over her lifetime, she was a member of Altar Guild, Daughters of the King and a member of many church choirs.
