Jaime Alberto Moscoso, 86, of La Porte, Texas passed away on November 10, 2020. Born in Simijaca (SIMI-HA-KA), Colombia on May 26, 1934 to parents Adam and Carlina Moscoso. He was married to Leonor Estrada-Moscoso for 57 years.
Upon finishing high school in Bogota, Jaime joined the Naval Academy in Cartagena Colombia- this began his love of the sea. Jaime worked for the machinist industry as a Tool and Die Marker for 35 years in the Houston area. He was a faithful member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, Texas.
In 1964, married and with a daughter on the way, Jaime made the move to the United States to start his American Dream. Within a day or two, with only a few dollars in his pocket and determination, he found work and a place to live in Queens, New York. Ten years later he moved to Texas and settled in La Porte.
Jaime’s focus and passion was his family, followed by his love of the sea, fishing, boating, and motorcycles. He will always be remembered for working with his hands. He was always fixing everything from cars to leaky faucets for family and friends. Always available to teach you how to drive too!
Above all he enjoyed the wonderful home cooking that his wife Leonor prepared. A little known fact about this quiet man was his wit and sense of humor. He always found a way to make you laugh at any given moment.
He is preceded in death by his father, Adam Moscoso, his mother, Carlina Espitia-Moscoso, brothers Luis and Miquel Moscoso and sisters Marina and Alicia Moscoso.
He is survived by his wife Leonor; daughter Monica Ybarra and husband Russell Ybarra of Houston, Texas; daughter Diana Legg and husband Darren Legg of League City, Texas; son Jimmy Moscoso and wife Rachel Moscoso of Newbury Park, California; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
