James was born on May 10, 1941 in Laurel Creek, West Virginia.
He proudly served in the US Navy.
James was a family man who adored his wife Margie, and loved spoiling his six grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling several times a year to visit family and friends.
His interest included gardening, rodeos, football, fishing, watching western movies and joining his friends at Shipley’s every morning for coffee.
James is survived by his wife, Margie; step-daughter Shelly Dodd and husband Tommy of Friendswood, TX, step-son Kevin McCawley and wife Jennifer of Baytown, TX; two sisters, Lenore Clapp of Chesapeake, VA and Connie Weeks and husband Sam of Smithfield, NC, and one brother Afton Pyles of St. Louis, MO . Six grandchildren Shannon, Tesla, Savanah, Derrick McCawley; Grayson Moore and Brayden Dodd.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Etta Pucket, and stepson James Shannon McCawley.
