Jane Holifield Bucy

Jane Elizabeth Holifield Bucy died at The Hampton Hospice facility in Spring, Texas on August 1, 2011. Jane Elizabeth Holifield Bucy was born on October 10, 1930 to Edward Bascomb Holifield Sr. and Elizabeth Bolling Briscoe in Boydsville, Arkansas. She had two older brothers Edward Bascomb Holifield Jr. and Stuart Brooks Holifield and one younger sister Patricia Alma Holifield Hall. She grew up in Boydsville and her family eventually moved to Rector, Arkansas where she graduated from Rector High School. She married Byron O. Bucy on Oct 23, 1948 and they lived and raised their children, Janis Carol Tomlinson, Danny Byron Bucy, and Patricia Jo Clegg in Rector. She was raised as a farmer’s daughter, which helped her transition to a farmer’s wife and eventually learned the art of ceramics and opened her own ceramic shop and taught several classes to high school students throughout northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri. When she was 39 years old, her husband Byron, began to work construction jobs and this involved moving every 6months to a year to a new city and a new job. No matter where she moved to or what she lived in she made sure each home was the most appealing and comfortable that she could make it. She always stressed to her children the importance of furthering our education. It was always not if we went to college but when we went to college. This philosophy has served to have all three of her children achieve a Bachelor’s degree as well as all her grandchildren attending college two having also achieved a Bachelor’s degree. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rector, Arkansas and later in La Porte, Texas. She is preceeded in death by her parents, Edward Holifield Sr. and Elizabeth Holifield as well as her brothers, Edward Holifield Jr. and Stuart Holifield. She is survived by one sister, Patricia Alma Hall and her children, Janis Carol Tomlinson and husband Ronald of Crosby, Texas, Danny Byron Bucy and his wife Linda of Plano, Texas and Patricia Jo Clegg and her husband Ray of Dayton, Texas, her grandchildren, Jeremy May and wife Renee, Rebecca Busby and husband R.J., Patrick Clegg and wife Deanna, Samuel Clegg, Rhonda Tomlinson Allee and husband Jim, great grandchildren, Daniel Austin May, Brandon Tomlinson and Jessica Widener, Tristan Allee, Maci Alle and Jaxson Allee, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 3:30PM at Grand View Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
