

Juleen Ann Bashforth Wilson, 86, of New Caney, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026. She was born July 3, 1939, in Pasadena, Texas to the late Edgar Gill Bashforth and Margaret (Giddens) Bashforth.
Juleen is survived by her loving daughter and devoted caregiver, Julie Derrick; son Gill Derrick and his wife Rosalind; son Robert Derrick and his wife Ghada; son Daniel Bakke and fiancée Rosalie Baird; granddaughter Chelsea Conner and her husband Christopher; grandson Kai Derrick and fiancée Gracie Merriman; grandson George Salgado; great-grandsons Takhoda and Xander Salgado; brother Thomas Bashforth; sister Susie Bradshaw and her husband Norman; niece Jennifer and nephews Jason and Doug; numerous grandnephews and grandnieces, cousins and lifelong childhood friends. After she became a grandmother to Chelsea, everyone lovingly referred to her as “Nani”. She was preceded in death by former husband and close family friend Thomas Wilson and by Otis Bakke and Brad Derrick.
Juleen was raised in Pasadena, Texas, and was a member of The First Methodist Church and its church choir. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 1957, where she was a member of the A Cappella Choir and the marching band where she played bassoon and was lead twirler. She was a member of The National Honor Society and served as Student Council secretary. After graduation, she attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas and was named the Sun Carnival Princess and then returned to Pasadena and started a family. She worked at Texas Commerce Bank and participated in the annual Christmas tree choir. She was awarded Secretary of the Year for the Houston area in 1972. After several promotions, she was named Super Banker in 1973. After leaving the workforce, she attended the University of Houston and became the first female member of the business fraternity Sigma Delta Pi. Later, she owned and operated a Venus de Milo Fitness franchise in Huntsville, Texas. She finished her professional career as Comptroller with Rosen International, which provided opportunities for her to travel and represent the company in Switzerland, Amsterdam and Mexico.
Juleen was a true go-getter – willing to try or do most anything: skiing, boating and riding mopeds & ATVs. She loved to travel with Tom, friends and family. She made it to over a dozen countries including China, Japan, Germany, Scotland and Ireland. While she couldn’t swim, she got certified to scuba dive at the age of 60 and took a trip to the Cayman Islands where she and Chelsea fed stingrays. She loved music, reading books and wine but above all else, she loved her family.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 29 from 6–8 pm at Grand View Funeral Home (8501 Spencer Hwy., Pasadena, Texas 77505). Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30 at 2 pm at Grand View Funeral Home (8501 Spencer Hwy., Pasadena, Texas 77505) with Chaplain Thomas Ramey officiating. Interment to follow at the Grand View Memorial Park. Reception to follow.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Derrick, Kai Derrick, George Salgado, Douglas Bradshaw, Lucas Schoen and Matthew Schoen.
And to her niece Jennifer Schoen, a special thank you for your loving care during Juleen’s last days.
