Lannis Kaye Jenkins was born on September 23, 1950 in Plainview, Texas where she lived until her family moved to Galena Park, Texas in 1951. Her parents were Doyle and Erma Carroll. She was the oldest of two daughters. She attended Galena Park High School, San Jacinto College, and University of Houston. Her professional career spanned 52 years, and she retired in December 2020 after spending more than 20 years with Silver Eagle Distributors.
Lannis was a member of Community of Faith Church in Cypress, Texas. She had a firm belief in her Lord Jesus Christ and had a steadfast faith that carried her through her battle with cancer. She enjoyed many activities and hobbies throughout her life. More recently, she was a long-time volunteer on a committee for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, including serving a term as Chairman. She was a member of Executive Women International (EWI), a professional organization that fostered professional development and community involvement. And, she and JD were members of a local whip dance club where they enjoyed swing dancing.
One of her favorite things to do was to spend time with her family, including camping trips to the Frio River at Garner State Park, fishing in Port O’Connor, and attending her grandsons’ events and activities. She was also a big Astros fan and enjoyed cheering on her home team.
Lannis was admired for her fight and determination in all she did. She was a special lady and loyal friend, and there were so many people who touched her life. She wished to express her deep appreciation and gratitude for the love and encouragement she received from the entire team at Silver Eagle Distributors, especially John Nau, Bobbie Nau, and the entire Nau family for the years of friendship and support. She was so grateful to the many medical professionals she met along her journey and was so very thankful for her Baylor “family” - Dr. Kent Osborne, Dr. Ali Jawani, Mari Rude, Claudette Foreman, Alphi Kuriakose and her team at Methodist - Dr. Polly Niravath, and Tinna Bradford.
Lannis is preceded in death by her parents Doyle and Erma Carroll. She is survived by her husband, JD Lamar; daughter, Heather Lowry; sister, Deborah Watson (and husband, Dennis); grandsons Shane and Tanner Lowry; and nephews Nathan Watson and Evan Watson (and wife, Kara).
