It is with hearts full of love and unwavering faith, we announce that Mary Ann Shaw Barnett, age 69 – beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend – moved to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior. Her soul took its heavenly flight at 12:30, the morning of Saturday, November 2, 2024.
We find comfort in knowing Mary is now in the presence of her Creator, where, as Psalm 16:11 beautifully reminds us, “In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” She is joyfully reunited with loved ones who went before her, in the place promised to her in John 14:2, “In My Father’s house there are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.”
Mary, with her twin sister, Martha, were born to Bill and Mary Shaw in Houston, TX, on May 12, 1955. Mary’s love and devotion to her family knew no bounds. She was a true example of faith, kindness, and commitment to everyone who knew her.
Mary loved the Lord, and with her servants heart, she demonstrated her love, tremendous faith and passion by her gifts of quilting and crochet. She stitched together the fabric of her family’s lives, weaving a lasting legacy of warmth and unity. She cherished her children with every fiber of her being and always desired closeness for her family. Mary also devoted countless hours to making and donating baby blankets to Southeast Memorial Hospital, spreading her warmth to earth’s littlest angels. Her family, and countless others, are now wrapped in the cozy embrace of her creations, missing her gentle, steady presence.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Bill King Shaw. She leaves behind her two sons, William Barnett and wife, Sylvia, of Texas City, TX; and Marshall Barnett and wife, Nique, of Huntsville, TX; her cherished grandson, Grant; her brother and three sisters, Martha Rudisill and husband, Earnest, of Nacogdoches, TX; Bill Shaw and wife, Lori, of Deer Park, TX; Pennie Poe of Dallas, TX; and Carla Jackson of Dallas, TX; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. While we will miss her dearly, we rejoice in knowing she is now resting peacefully in God’s presence having fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).
The family Invites you to honor Mary’s life and legacy with family visitation on November 7th, from 1 to 2p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena,TX. The funeral will be held immediately following at 2p.m. The burial will be private for the family, where she will be laid to rest beside her father in the family cemetery at Beechcreek Baptist Church in Spurger, TX.
