Mary G. Vasquez, a beloved resident of Pasadena, Texas, passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 51. Born on July 25, 1974, in Brownsville, Texas, Mary was a cherished daughter, mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. She was the daughter of Guadalupe and Gabina Vasquez and was raised in Brownsville, where she attended elementary, intermediate, and high school. It was at Cummings Middle School in 1988 where she met Rocky in the 8th grade, and they shared a close bond ever since.
Mary had a passion for the great outdoors, often hiking the Colorado Rockies, Grand Tetons, Yosemite, Redwoods, Grand Canyon, Muir Woods, and other National Parks throughout the U.S. She enjoyed spending time with her adult children, frequently visiting San Antonio's Six Flags and Caverns. Mary also embraced shark fishing, camping on the beach for days with her husband, and landing tiger and bull sharks. She was adventurous, even wading knee-deep into the water at night with a spotlight to catch crabs with her bare hands.
Mary was known for her beauty, sweetness, humility, adventurous spirit, and perfectionist nature. She was deeply passionate about her family, being assertive yet nurturing, kind, and loving to her children and grandchildren. Often described as goofy, Mary was a woman of many words, sometimes humorously mixing them up, such as confusing a peacock with a porcupine ,confused WD 40 with a W2or referring to her daughter's GPA as a GPS.
Mary will be deeply missed by her mother, Gabina Vasquez; sisters, Lisa Vasquez and Terry Reyna; brother, Guillermo Vasquez; husband, Rocky Rodriguez; and daughters, Stephanie Hernandez, Vicky Rodriguez, Kassandra Rodriguez, Destiny Rodriguez, and Nevaeh Rodriguez. She was preceded in death by her father, Guadalupe Vasquez; grandmother on her mother’s side, Maria Martinez; and grandmother on her father’s side, Maria Regalado.
A visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505, on December 14, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same venue on December 15, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a graveside service from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
Mary's adventurous spirit, loving nature, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
