Mary George Ward, 93, passed away July 6, 2015 in Bryan, Texas. She was a native Houstonian, a graduate of John H Reagan H.S. class of 1941 and Lily Jolly School of Nursing, class of 1944. Upon graduation from nursing school she entered the U.S. Army in May, 1945, as a Registered Nurse, serving as a 2nd lieutenant, stationed at Camp Polk, La. She was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 711.
Mary was the daughter of Edward Christian George, Sr. and Pauline Foreman George. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred H. Ward, her brother Edward C. George, Jr. and her sister Betty Jane Hernandez.
She is survived by her son Michael Edward Herhold and his wife Donna, her daughter Sarah Ward Bell and her granddaughter Lindsey Strack Collins, her husband Alex and great grandchildren Clayton and Clint Collins.
Mother lived a life of service to others; her memory will be cherished by her family and many friends.
Visitation for Mary will be at Grand View Funeral Home; on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 12:20 pm – 2:00 pm, with funeral services following at 2:00 pm.
