

Pat was born on September 11, 1929, in Wichita Falls, Texas. At the age of 14, her family moved to Pasadena, Texas, where she became a dedicated member of South Main Baptist Church. Pat attended Pasadena High School, where she was an active member of the high school marching band and was voted class favorite.
Pat graduated from high school at the age of 16. Her high school sweetheart, James McNeil, who also attended South Main Baptist Church and Pasadena High School, became her lifelong partner for 64 years. After graduating, Pat worked for Vinson & Elkins law firm in Houston. In 1949, she and James became engaged, and they married on November 4, 1950, residing in Pasadena throughout their marriage.
Together, Pat and James were cherished members of South Main Baptist Church, where they were charter members for over 81 years. Pat was a devoted wife and homemaker who found great joy in attending church. She was a member of the Rock of Ages Sunday School class and the Mavericks Sunday School class, and she volunteered for numerous activities within the church. Additionally, Pat was an active participant in the Parkview Estates Garden Club for over 15 years. Above all, she deeply cherished her role as the beloved "Mimi" to her grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Steveann Smith, and her husband, Lonnie. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll McNeil; daughter, Patresa Lea Simons; parents, Mona and Russell Campbell; nephew, Gary Pinkston; niece, Glenda Jean Strickland and sisters, Tommy Joyce Pinkston and Eugenia Strickland.
She is also survived by her granddaughters, Somer Hughes and her husband, Chase; Jamy Smith and her husband, Clay; and Jill West and her husband, Mitchell. Pat was a proud great-grandmother to Greyson Dan Hughes, Hunter Ray Smith, Parker Lea Smith, and Evelyn June West. She is further survived by nieces Carry Pinkston, Kim Pressly, and Susan McNeil; nephews Larry Pinkston and Mark McNeil. Additionally, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Ralph McNeil, and his wife, Wanda, along with numerous extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will take place at South Main Baptist Church on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. A private graveside service will follow.
