Following his graduation from Franklin University, Richard served in the Ohio Air National Guard, and, throughout his career as an accountant, lived in several cities in Ohio, Mississippi, Virginia, Alabama, and Texas. Rick loved to work on cars, especially his 1929 Chevy, and he was always ready for a game of bridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Hussa Smith, son Steve Smith (Michelle), stepsons TJ/Thomas Haight(Heidi), Anthony Haight(Isabella), and Joseph Matthew(Kristin), grandchildren Zack, Ashton and Kylie Smith, Travis, Mackenzie(TD Douglas), and Hunter Haight, Rebecca, Joseph and Matthew Haight, Alec and Troy Buehner, and great-grandchildren Ashton Dodd, Cash and Brooklyn Douglas, niece and nephew Suzan and Scott Smith, and daughter Sherry Smith, grandchildren Mason and Makenzie.
Visitation December 12, 4 pm-6pm, memorial service 5 pm, at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX.
