Roger Michael Bender

He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 27, 1939. Roger graduated from Chisago High School in Chisago City, Minnesota in 1957 and received a Bachelor of Science from University of Houston. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and was stationed in Lincoln, Nebraska where he met the love of his life, Ramona. Roger and Ramona J. were married on June 11, 1961.

He had a passion for writing and was a member and officer of the Pasadena Writer’s Club. He also enjoyed Photography and traveling.

He worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst for many companies, including General Electric, Control Applications, Lockheed and EDS. He was also proud to have helped support the Apollo 11 project.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Bender; brother, Joe Bender; grandson, Geoff Ogden; mother-in-law, Lois Calkins and George Calkins; and Father-in-law, Billy J. Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ramona Bender; son, Michael R. Bender and wife Debbie; daughter, Lori M. Johnson and husband Carl; granddaughter, Ashley Johnson; grandsons, Craig Ogden and wife Amanda, Nicholas Bender and wife Rachel and Jonathan Greenlee; sister, Sharon Falardeau; sister-in-law Laura Bender; brother-in-laws, Ron Smith and wife Barbara and Dennis Calkins and wife Jeanne and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was a loving and devoted family man. He loved his family dearly.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at, Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. A Gathering at Grand View Funeral Home will begin on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 9:15am to go in precession to the Graveside at, Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. The Graveside Service will begin at 10:30am at Houston National Cemetery.
