Ronald Wesley Taylor, 74, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022, with his wife of 30 years by his side. Ron was the third oldest child of Woodrow & Prenia Taylor, born in rural Mississippi, in August of 1947. They moved to Texas when Ron was a teenager. Ron lived a tremendous life and leaves a lasting legacy. He was known by many as Ron, Ronnie, Big Ron, Dad, husband, brother, uncle, Papaw and friend, and if you knew him by any of these, you know that he loved & cared for you.
He lived the majority of his life in service to others. He served and volunteered in the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department & EMS, CIMA, Little League (as coach and umpire), was a Texas A&M Industrial Fire School Instructor for 17 years, and more. He even chose a career where he was responsible for the safety and well-being of others. He was a fantastic cook and host and made sure everyone was welcome in his home and at his table.
Ron is survived by his wife, Christina Taylor, of Deer Park; six children, Tamara Taylor of Canyon Lake; Troy Taylor and wife, Anastasia, of Houston; Blake Taylor and wife Jennifer, of Spring Branch; Scott Elliott and wife, Jennifer, of Bellefontaine, OH; Gary Elliott and wife Leslie, of Asheville, NC and Robyn Smith of Deer Park. He was extremely proud of his 19 grandchildren: Wesley White, Colton Eason, Travis Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Camron Taylor and wife Laney, Brandon Taylor, Nora Elliott, Scarlett Elliott, Penelope Elliott, Marshall Elliott, Cole Miller, Andrew Frederick, Jacob Frederick, Drew Elliott, Tyler Elliott, Collin Elliott, Gavyn Thompson, Payge Thompson and Garrett Smith; one great-grandchild Curtis White. Surviving siblings include Wayne Taylor and wife, Brenda; Sharon Airhart and husband, Don; Richard Taylor and wife, Julie; Janice Head and husband, Ken and Amy Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Davis and her husband, Jack, and brother-in-law, William (Bill) Stewart.
Per Ron’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, as he didn’t want anyone “making a fuss” over him. There will be a family gathering to honor Ron’s life at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, 2211 East X, Deer Park, TX 77536.
